Ipswich & Colchester Younger Sangha had an extremely well attended summer BBQ this weekend on the banks of the river Orwell.
We all chose to bring bits of food for the BBQ and it turned out that without much planning we had ample amounts of all the essentials, along with some pretty awesome chutney and copious amounts of veggie burgers of course!
We headed down to the banks of the River Orwell after a meditation at the foot of the oldest tree in Ipswich (hopefully some photos will follow!) which hosts several rituals during the year organised by Jnanamitra from Ipswich Buddhist Centre. After a bit of a mission getting the BBQ lit, we soon had two hot and ready for the many rounds of burgers, sausages, veggie kebabs, sweetcorn, mushrooms and goodness knows what else! Some of us were even brave enough to venture out for a paddle into the jellyfish-infested River Orwell (sometimes necessitated by a poorly aimed frisbee throw mostly by Karunadhi!) as the weather was exceptionally warm, especially as we were there until 8pm!
It was a really lovely way to get to know people in the sanghas a bit better in a social setting and of course, the food was pretty great too!
A big thank you to everyone for helping to organise it and for coming along, a great time was had by all!
